The Steeper family line before the nineteenth century has mostly been jointly researched by myself and Denis Steeper, who has shared his findings with me. James Steeper Abt. 1685 – Nov 1744 Married Ann ? no details. Welton by Lincoln. Presumed Yeoman Farmer/Merchant. He certainly had the property consistent with one of those positions.
James and Ann had 3 sons and a daughter, including:
William (Snr) Steeper Dec 1715 – Dec 1784 Presumed Yeoman Farmer/Merchant of Welton by Lincoln. Certainly inherited the family business whatever it was. Married Anne Robinson of Welton 1722 – 1759.
